The process of floral preservation is very delicate and timely. Here is an outline of the steps in our process.
Step 1. Take a look at our current availability to see if your date is available (updated daily).
Step 2. If your date is available, place your order, selecting the size and color of your frame, as well as any other customizations you have. Within 24hrs, you will receive an email link to sign the contract!
Step 3. The Monday following your event, you or someone designated will drop off to us in West Bloomfield, Michigan or ship your flowers to us.
Step 4. Your flowers will then begin the preservation process.
Step 5. Once your frame is complete (around 6 months), you will receive an email to pickup locally.
Floral preservation is a slow art. Each flower and botanical press differently and require various techniques. The moisture is removed and pressed from the flower, which can take up to 12 weeks. From receiving your flowers to your final piece is around 6 months. This can vary during busy wedding season but we aim to stick within these timelines. We always want to ensure we are giving each piece the time and attention to detail it requires.
No, we serve clients anywhere in the USA! You can simply drop off your florals to us in West Bloomfield, Michigan if local or ship your flowers to our studio.
Yes! They more fresh and hydrated they are, the better results we will have. You should deliver/ship your flowers to us the Monday following your event. After your event you will want to keep the stems trimmed and in fresh water. Keep flowers in a cool dark place. Do not spray, water or have anything touch the petals. Pro Tip: Assign a friend or family member to care for your flowers the day of the event to keep them in good shape. Its also best to avoid the bouquet toss as this will damage and bruise the petals.
Our 11x14 frame highlights a few main pieces from your bouquet. Our most popular 16x20 frame fits most or all of your bouquet and our larger 18x24, Trilogy or Remember Always frame fits multiple flowers from different arrangements. If you will be ordering multiple frames or a large size frame, we always recommend sending extra flowers to ensure we have enough variety to choose from to you give your design the best look! This can be tablescapes, bridesmaid bouquets, etc.
The pressed method slowly flattens and removes all the moisture from your petals and will be displayed in a traditional or float glass frame.
Instead of a deposit, we have you purchase your frame ahead of time, so it's one less thing to remember! We find this helps our clients, as we know there are so many things to do when it comes to wedding planning.
Almost all flowers and greenery will dry and press somewhat different than when fresh. Typically bright colors will be preserved and maintain their vibrance while whites and lighter flowers may turn more creamy white or vintage in color. This is all part of a beautiful transformation.
Each flower is unique and has different undertones. Some flowers will maintain their color better than others. Reds and burgendys tend to turn a deep maroon/purple. Light pinks can turn a light purple while whites turn more vintage and creamy. All natural materials will fade some over time. As with everything in life, things will age and change subtly over time but we find this to still be a beautiful part of the process. We do provide color correction as needed for our flowers, as this helps maintain their color much longer.
Color correction is a technique used to enhance or restore the natural colors of flowers after they have been dried. When flowers are pressed, they can lose vibrancy and can appear dull or faded. We selectively apply high quality artist pigments to your pressed flowers to restore or enhance their colors. This is a delicate process and requires careful application.
We recommend booking 6-12 months before your big day, to ensure your date and our presses are available, as we take a limited number of bouquets each week.
Local drop off will be from 7am-7pm on the Monday following your event at Mariah's in-home studio in West Bloomfield, Michigan. We have a dropbox on the front porch with instructions. You will receive an email 1 month prior to your big day with drop off/care instructions.
