Terms of service

What you are buying. Custom artwork and keepsakes made by hand from flowers you supply: framed pressed pieces, resin pieces and other keepsakes, as you choose them. You choose the size, the frame and the finish. We press, rebuild and finish your own flowers.

Payment. In full at the time you order. No deposits. All sales are final.

Your contract. After you order you will receive a contract by email, normally within the hour. Your order is confirmed once it is signed. The contract is the full agreement between us, and these terms summarize it.

Getting your flowers to us. Flowers come to our West Bloomfield studio on the Monday following your event, between 7am and 7pm, at the porch dropbox. Full care and drop-off instructions are emailed before your event, or right after signing if your event has already happened. On a wedding weekend we strongly recommend asking a family member or friend to handle drop-off. If you cannot drop off in person, ship your flowers to us with any carrier, and choose shipping at checkout so we can send your finished piece back to you. We email packing instructions as soon as you order.

How long it takes. Drying alone takes 2 to 4 months depending on the flowers, and most pieces are complete in about six months. Some flowers, including succulents, take longer, and orders that include resin pieces may take longer. We will keep you updated. These are honest estimates rather than guarantees.

Flowers that arrive in poor condition. Flowers are living things and not all of them survive the days between an event and the press. Not every petal may be usable. If some of your flowers are too damaged to use, we may substitute equivalent flowers of the same type from our studio stock, so that the finished piece looks the way your bouquet did. This is what lets us say yes to bouquets that other studios turn away.

Our artistic judgment. We will follow your requests as closely as we reasonably can and design in the style of the work you have seen from us. We have the final say on the design, and dissatisfaction with an artistic choice is not grounds for a refund.

Color, honestly. Pressing changes color, and we correct it by hand with artist pigments to bring the tones back toward the ones you remember. After that, color keeps moving gently for the life of the piece. Bright colors hold well. Whites settle into a creamier, more vintage tone. Reds and burgundies deepen. Light pinks can shift. UV Conservation Clear glass slows the natural fading that reaches every pressed flower in time. It does not stop it, and nothing does. Keep pieces away from direct sunlight and high humidity. Where you hang a piece matters as much as what is over it. We are not responsible for natural color change over time.

Caring for resin. Resin is durable, but it is not glass. All resin slowly yellows over time, and direct sunlight speeds that up a great deal, so keep resin pieces out of direct sun. The flowers inside can also keep changing color slowly, the same as pressed flowers behind glass. Wipe clean with a soft cloth and mild soap and water. Do not put resin in the dishwasher, and avoid harsh cleaners, alcohol and scouring pads. Resin coasters are best for cold and warm drinks. A mug straight from the coffee maker or microwave can soften the resin and leave a permanent mark, so please do not set very hot drinks directly on them. Take resin jewelry off before swimming, bathing, or putting on lotion or perfume. Resin can chip or crack if dropped. We are not responsible for yellowing, clouding or marks caused by light, heat, chemicals, handling or natural aging.

Anything you send to be included in the design becomes part of it. Vows, an invitation, a photograph or a piece of fabric placed into a piece cannot be taken back out. Please send a copy if the original matters to you.

Add-ons. Smaller keepsakes are designed to be made from the same bouquet as a main piece. If you would like add-ons on their own, contact us and we will arrange it.

Memorial orders. There is a $350 minimum on memorial work and no main frame is required. Several family members can each keep something made from the same flowers.

Collecting your piece. We will email you when your piece is ready. You have one month from that email to collect it. After that, storage is $20 a week. If a piece has not been collected 90 days after we notify you, it becomes the property of Preserve My Petals. Please tell us if you need more time and we will do our best to help.

If your piece is damaged, tell us within 24 hours of collecting it, or within 48 hours of delivery if it was shipped. See our Refund Policy.

Returns. All sales are final. See our Refund Policy.

Photography. See our Privacy Policy for how we use images of your flowers and your finished piece.

Limit of our liability. If anything goes wrong with your order, the most we are responsible for is the total amount you paid us for it. If your piece or a part of it is lost before it is finished, we will refund you for the part of the work we were not able to complete.
